How I Tapped a Rock Bottom Ground Spring | 50th in Canadian Rockies | Itehil Portable Water Purifier
Finished tapping my spring using bentonite clay and hydraulic cement. Overall, it was a successful learning experience as I'm getting about a gallon per minute of fresh, cold spring water.
Celebrated my 50th birthday mid-May in the Canadian Rockies. What an unforgettable trip.
Thanks to Itehil for sending me their portable water purifier to test out. Seems like a really useful product to have on hand. You can buy one at a discount below:

The Results of My Rainwater Gravity Fed Filtration System | Tapping a Ground Spring | Off Grid Water
Переглядів 45 тис.Місяць тому
In the last video I installed a rainwater storage system with gravity fed filtration. Unfortunately, there was no rain to test the system out. Three weeks later and we are ready to see THE RESULTS! Here's the First Flish Diverter I mention in video: Downspout First Flush Diverter Kit, 3" www.rainharvest.com/rain-harvesting-pty-3-inch-first-flush.asp I also attempt to develop and tap a ground sp...
Weekend at the Cabin Installing Rainwater Storage with Gravity Fed Filtration - Will it Work?
Переглядів 56 тис.2 місяці тому
I designed a rainwater collection system for my off grid cabin and really have no idea if it will even work. Rain is in the forecast this week so we will find out. Up until now, I have been hauling water from my home to the cabin. I’m not a plumber, so leave some tips, comments on how you think it will do or how to improve it. I’m sure it will need some tweaking. Next video will be a full revie...
The Maiden Voyage | Winter “Blizzard” | New Log Cabin Design | Wall Tent Repair | An Oh S**t Moment
Переглядів 21 тис.3 місяці тому
After some weather and snow delays the bridge is finally complete. This bridge is needed to get to the future cabin build site. The hills are roughly a 35° incline/decline so it’s not an easy trip. The maiden voyage was almost a disaster as I started sliding backwards down the hill. The only thing that stopped me was a large tree. Once I regained traction, I.made it up the hill pretty easily. What is The Off Grid Experience? | Ten Years Ago | History Lesson | 2024 - Age of Deception

This video provides a commentary on how and why I decided to start this channel. It details events from 2013 to present day and also highlights some facts about our country’s history that many may not know and certainly not taught in schools today. 2024 is setting up to be one of the most interesting years in memory. Deception is all around. Be not deceived… #offgrid #homestead #constitution #2024

Was able to take advantage of nice weather the past few weekends and get the bridge 90% done. Started laying the decking after getting the bracing secured. Still need to add a few lag bolts. I also tried sharpening one of my axes with a file for the first time . #offgrid #bridge #asmr #cabin #homestead

That green paint isn't cheap, why not go with a cheaper yet durable side by side such as a Kubota?? The 4x4s are strong little things that can accomplish more than what i would have guessed. If you search you can usually find one that is a year or so old and either been traded in or repossessed.

It’s nice that you made a number of conveniences and comfort not just for you but also your wife. And things that you have put in place I feel like they are definitely off grid no matter what somebody thinks. It’s not like you’re getting power from electric and water from a faucet from the People have to pay every month. And I do think it’s a little bit nicer than off grid like the old days because we didn’t have these new things to help you build up the things that you have made. However, in the old days there was a lot of people that were just like you. so I’m very proud of your work and I love your cabin. I would love to have a place set up like you have. But at my age, but I can dream along with you as you live it

I ve lived in the Appalachian s all my life My 500 gal tank has 2 catch basins .and my out pipes are at least 6" off the bottom. I clean them every fall Just trying to save you sum hard knocks learning

Happy Birthday. The pictures you shared of your visit to the area of Banff are beautiful. We pass through that area from where we live in Southern BC, to family in Alberta. Always photos to take. Different seasons, all have so much beauty. God's creation is amazing, if we but open our eyes. Nice work on your spring. Will you need to do anything for the " spring", to go through winter?

Will never forget my four years of being stationed in Montana(Late 70s Early 80's). Spring, Summers, Fall were fantastic backpacking adventures as much as possible. Been to some of the places you show. In the winter we had a favorite song from Randy Bachman/Neil Young - Potage and Main - 30F below, you stay inside and rock and roll.

How much fall to the cabin ? Wondering if running a line to the hot tub and one to a large tank to feed cabin, the over flow could feed a small micro hydo set up to provide some power. Bentonite is amazing stuff.

Interesting video. One question I have is the seasonal water flow in that creek and whether there’s a chance of water running on to your spring. It seems pretty level with the creek right there. I’m guessing that you’ve already thought about that but I’m curious either way.
